The Titfield Thunderbolt was about a train. Never mind that it was one of the greatest Ealing comedies—it was about a train! Forget those fine British comic actors—there was a train! Not one of those magnificent American locomotives but a rather brummy Pommie steamer—doesn’t matter, it was about a train! The train races with a bus, gets wrecked, rises again and wins and it was every bit of it wonderful. Why didn’t they make more movies starring trains?
