Okay, so the Kennedy drama is the most spectacular, best bit of drama, most likely to be mythologised and immortalised of any in the modern age. Agreed?
Whether you do or not, there is a simple point to be made from this perspective. We all know that the Romans built straight roads and conquered the known world by military force and, for worse or worse, gave us Christianity. The Yanks gave us A-bombs, movies and television, but really, what they did that was most vital—the one thing that made their probably short-lived empire worth having—occurred six years after Lee Harvey Brutus cut JFK down. For it was Kennedy who said to his underlings: here’s a huge sum of money, put a man on the moon.
Whatever you might think of him, that single action will ensure that he is remembered long after other, probably better Presidents, have been forgotten. Columbus and Kennedy, that’s how it will come down.
Amongst all Presidents, Kennedy was to become my hero for that single reason—the man who made journeys to other worlds a reality. All science fiction was vindicated in that action, and the first uncertain step of humankind’s journey to his destiny was made.

But, sadly, there was another side to him as well.
